TraceMyData
TraceMyData is a UK privacy service. Customers order an audit of their publicly accessible information and receive a clear, plain-English report. Payment, confirmation emails, intake and order tracking all run automatically through a set of connected services.

01 Overview
TraceMyData helps people understand their privacy exposure by auditing what is publicly accessible about them online and explaining it clearly.
02 The problem
Most people have no idea how much of their personal information is out there — across social media, data brokers, public records and breach databases. Checking it yourself is slow, confusing and easy to get wrong.
03 Who it’s for
Privacy-conscious individuals in the UK who want a professional, trustworthy view of their online footprint without needing any technical knowledge.
04 My role
I designed and built the website and the systems behind it: the Stripe payment flow, customer and team emails, intake forms, order tracking, the blog and the free breach checker.
05 The solution
A calm, credible website explains the service in plain English, offers a free breach check as a first step and leads into a short order flow. Once Stripe confirms a payment, everything else happens automatically — so the team can focus on the audits themselves.
Secure payments with Stripe
Plan selection and payment through Stripe Checkout, with UK-only ordering and bot protection on the form.
Automated fulfilment
One confirmed payment triggers the customer email, intake form link, order card, team alert and order log.
Free breach checker
Visitors can check whether their email address has appeared in known data breaches before ordering anything.
Editorial content
A CMS-backed blog and example report so visitors can understand exactly what they’ll receive.

06 Key decisions
- a.
Let Stripe handle payments
Card details are entered on Stripe’s hosted checkout, never on the site, which reduces risk and keeps the site simple to secure.
- b.
Automate the busywork
A single payment webhook fans out to email, task tracking, logging and team notifications, so a small team can run the service reliably.
- c.
Trust before conversion
Privacy is a sensitive purchase. The site leads with clear explanations, an example report and a free tool, rather than pushing for a sale.
07 How it’s built
- Stripe
- Handles payment processing through Stripe Checkout. A webhook confirms each payment and starts the fulfilment process.
- Resend
- Sends order confirmations with the intake link, plus internal notifications for every new order.
- Have I Been Pwned
- Powers the free breach checker, showing whether an email address appears in known data breaches.
- Cloudflare Turnstile
- Blocks bots on the order form without making customers solve puzzles.
- Trello
- Creates a card for every order, labelled by plan and status, so audits are tracked from intake to delivery.
- Slack and Google Sheets
- Instant team notifications for new orders, and a running log of every order for reporting.
- Sanity
- A content management system for the blog, so articles can be published without touching code.
- Sentry and Vercel
- Error monitoring on both client and server, with hosting and analytics on Vercel.
